9.30 am -10.45 am – Alan Moore movie
10.45-11.15 am – Discussion on the necessity to go beyond PJs and PPs – poor jokes and poor puns.
11.15-11.30 am Break
11.30-12.30 – Look at cartoons of students – feedback
12.30-12.45 pm – Look at Somesh Cartoon
12.45-1.30 pm – Lunch
1.30 pm-3.00 pm – Continue feedback and then individual students can get feedback on their work too.
Homework:
1. Read Alan Moore’s writing for comics in groups and come prepared for a discussion on how to create narratives/stories for your comics. Perhaps you can each come up with a single-line story idea – a logline.
2. Go home and create your second and third characters and upload your concepts with studies of their expressions, gestures, motions. Some of your explorations must necessarily place two or more of your characters in a context – pay attention to perspectives, placement, depth, compositional considerations.
3. Create a second 4-frame cartoon which uses all your characters in context with a small story embedded in it.
